How should I quilt this? I think I'm going to add a little 1 1/2 inch border around it. But it measures 20" x 20" right now. Each one of those little squares are 1 3/4" finished to make 9 7" blocks. This is for a mini quilt swap. Typically I'd do the regular ol' free motion meandering, but I'm wondering if straight line quilting would look better. It's just so small I don't know how to do it! What do you think? Any suggestions?? Please!
What if you quilted 1/4" inside each of the white areas? You could then do some sort of motif in each star to anchor it if it felt under-quilted...
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely - good luck!
how about diagonal lines?
ReplyDeleteLove it! it's crisp and bright!!! Since I only know how to "meander" ... i'm probably not a lot of help on quilting recos ;-)
ReplyDeleteOooh prettyyyyyy!
ReplyDeleteIt will be very "traditional" to quilt it with 1/4" outline quilting. What about a loopy all-over pattern to offset the straight lines in the blocks?
Seeing all these projects come together reminds me I have to get my booty in gear on this project!
I'm not here to give you suggestions on how to quilt it, because I usually send mine off to someone else. However. I AM here to say that these are really stunning blocks!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go with diagonal lines of some sort. I like the angular lines of the stars and the diagonal would bring that out?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, by the way! I love it!
Wowza!! It is striking. If you free motion the white with lots of stitching the stars will pop out???
ReplyDeleteThat's how I did this quilt.
