So Frustrated!!

5 yards of Anna Maria Horner's Folksy Flannel and it's still not enough for the backing of my Modify Tradition quilt! This quilt is seriously becoming my nemesis! It's so big. It's about 85"x87". I'm so done with piecing the top that I don't even want to mess with the back now! So I think I'm just going to get a flat sheet and use that. It's just getting to the point where I'm dreading this quilt and I don't want to feel that way about this quilt because I really do love it so much.

My piecing of the top is so ridiculous and uneven that I'm hoping that when I go to quilt it it hides it. I'm sure the finished product will be far from squared up, but at this point, I don't care. It's for me and I love it, so it will be ok. I noticed today while looking at the top that there is a huge white space near the bottom with nothing there. Now I'm thinking maybe I'll applique something in that spot. What?...I have no clue, but I feel like I have to put something there. Maybe I'll take some of flannel and put my initials or "JEN" in that space.

Now I need to find a flat sheet that will work with the top. I'd like to not have to use a solid color. Anny suggestions as to where to look?

And as far as my health....I CAN DRIVE AGAIN!! I had an EEG done yesterday and the neurologist found nothing abnormal. So it must have just been a freak thing that he said can come on for numerous reasons (like dehydration, which I was when I arrived at the hospital) So being that nothing like this has every happened to me before he seemed to think this was a one time deal. So I'm happy and feeling like my old self again! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes, I do appreciate them!

  2. So happy about the good health news. That quilt setting is really fun. Back away from it for a day or two and the answer will probably come. Anyway, it is beautiful and you will love it!

  3. was worried about ya lil' sis! you've been on mind a lot! having little ones when you're not sure what's going on and hubby not home...you've been held! and prayers have been answered!

put the quilt away for a little bit. try Goodwill for sheets with patterns. maybe even vintagey ones?

I like the idea of personalizing the quilt that way!

  4. If you can figure out what size piece(s) you need to finnish the back in folksy flannel, I'd be happy to send you a piece of mine. I'm prtty sure I have most of the prints so you could take your pick!

Actually, I'm not really into that white one with the vines (or whatever they are) on it, and I don't know how much I have but it's yours if it'll work...I'll measure it tonight and let you know.

I want you to be happy with your quilt so let me know what I can do to help.

Otherwise, if you still want flannel, you could buy a flat flannel sheet...probably online since I bet they don't sell them in stores in California.

And I'm so happy you're ok again!

  5. So glad you got cleared by your doctor! That's great and relieving news.

If you're planning on quilting your quilt yourself, you may not want to use flannel for the backing. Flannel is heavier and bulkier, so it'll be harder to handle. If you are hand quilting it, that may not be too big of a deal.

Anyway, one place you can look for sheets is IKEA...they have some great modern patterns and colors.
