winner!

#6 A from Scissors and Thread won the giveaway! I've sent you an email requesting your info. Thanks to all for entering and I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the summer!

On a side note, I've had a little medical emergency the other day and spent Wednesday in the ER all day. I basically fainted and had a seizure. Chipped several teeth in the process. They don't seem to know what caused it. I had a CT scan done and it came back fine. Bad part is that they have told me no driving until cleared by my doctor. I saw him yesterday and he won't clear me until I see a neurologist. So now I'm playing the waiting game for referrals and appointments. My husband is deployed and won't be home until the beginning of August. I have 2 kids 6 & 2 yrs old, and I just moved here a month ago. So this has been rather difficult for me. I'm having to ask for help from other wives on base that are pretty much strangers. Asking for help is one of those things I'm just not good at. My step-mom drove 7 hours to be here for me the day it happened, since she lives the closest. So I do have her here with me now, but she's leaving on Sunday. So I may be a little absent from blogland for a bit.

  1. I hope they find what it was soon Jen, and you can go back to driving! Meanwhile, even if you don't know people near yet, I bet they are happy to help out, and the stranger next door now is your future friend! All best wishes for a speedy getting back to normal.

  2. Jen, I hope they get to the root of the problem and that it is nothing serious. I do medical transcription for two neurologists so I type on this situation fairly frequently, and a lot of the time it is something like dehydration, etc. But the whole not-driving thing is really inconvenient. thoughts and prayers going your way...

  3. Hope you'll figure out what is going on soon! My husband had a similar thing 9 years ago. Not knowing is the hardest.
As much as the no driving is a huge pain, they do it to keep you and your kiddies safe!

  5. Oh Jen! I'm so sorry that happened to you and especially that your husband is away at this time. I hope it turns out to be nothing or that, if something, they can fix it fast.

I'm sorry about your teeth too...I've had more dental work than anyone I know so I'm especially empathetic to teeth trouble.

Feel better and if there's anything I can do for you from Minnesota, let me know!

  6. Get well wishes from Michigan! And I hope they find what it is real quick. Nothing worse than not knowing what's going on. As for asking for help: it's a learning experience (and trust me: I still haven't figured it out yet).

  9. Military wives are great to help out, and don't hesitate asking...I was a military wife once upon a time and I know I would have been happy to help. I wish you the best and know that all will come out fine. And again, ask the others for help...many of them may be in the same boat as you, and would be happy to make a friend.

  10. Oh man Jen! I'll say a few prayers for you. As a previous military wife myself - I know those women will help you no matter what. But I agree that asking is usually the hardest part. Even after my husband retired - those are still some of our best friends.
    Good luck!

  11. OMG that must have been scary for you and your kiddos...Hope they find the problem soon. Maybe it is just stress from the move?

  12. Jen, That must be rough - I'm not military, but we have moved many times due to my husband's job. Don't be afraid to ask for help -there are tons of great people out there. You will be in my prayers! (Best part of not driving - if there is one - is that you can spend more time sewing!) Hang in there.
